Aves 2018 - Week 1
This year I thought I would take on a quilting challenge, so I signed up for Aves , a Block of the Week quilt by Kathryn Kerr of Green Avenue Quilts . Every Sunday starting 21 January 2018, I receive the instructions to complete one block for the quilt. The plan is to complete the current block before the next one is released.. Week 1 There was no warm up - the first block was a big one. Eight different fabrics, 96 pieces to cut out, and foundation piecing - which I have never done before. While I had chosen about half of the fabric ahead of time, the block called for three I didn't have yet. This required a trip to the usual fabric shop for some difficult decisions. I got the hang of sewing the small wedges okay, but when it came to sewing the small wedge onto the big one, it took me three goes to figure out how to do it.
