Scrappy trip around the world

Image
I can see from here it has been ages since I completed a quilt.  Silly me decided to do a 'block of the day' quilt, so I have been doing A LOT.  I started on 1 January, and will finish on 31 December.  At one point I was almost a month behind schedule, but most times I am somewhat up-to-date or perhaps just a few days behind.  But it means I haven't had much time for other quilts - the exception being a granny square style quilt I am doing as a leader / ender, and this one, a scrappy trip around the world based on a Bonnie Hunter pattern .   I am not sure why now, but I decided to collect fat quarters in an autumn-ish theme for this quilt.  It took a while to find just the right fat quarters, as I figured I'd need 20 to do a 64" x 80" quilt.  And unlike Bonnie Hunter's pattern, I also decided to cut the fat quarters slightly differently so that I'd end up with eight 2.5" strips from every fat quarter, of at least 20" each.  This did require s...
