Aves 2018 - Week 19

This year I thought I would take on a quilting challenge, so I signed up for Aves, a Block of the Week quilt by Kathryn Kerr of Green Avenue Quilts.

Every Sunday starting 21 January 2018, I receive the instructions to complete one block for the quilt. The plan is to complete the current block before the next one is released.

Week 19
I have nothing good to say about this week.  When the block arrived, it mentioned curves, applique and hand sewing.  HAND SEWING?  I work full time.  I don't have time for hand sewing.  My annoyance at the instructions, combined with a lot going on at work and some virus or something I caught that made me tired all week was not going to have a good outcome.

The centre shape required tight, tiny curved sewing.  The individual seams were okay, but the four combined were not awesome.  The outer segments went in fairly well, but even ironed, the block didn't sit too well.  But anyway...

However, it wasn't finished.  I had eight more segments to HAND SEW on here.  I don't hand sew.

There is not much else to say.  This is my least favourite block.  I am actually considering making something else to put in its place, and this can go on the back where no one can see it.  Maybe you won't notice how bad it is when surrounded by other blocks.  Oh well.

There is always next week.
